4 ways to use VeloSkin's Soothing Gel

Our Soothing Gel is one of the most versatile products in our cycling skincare range. When we first brought it out it was initially aimed at relieving sore areas after time in the saddle. However, as more and more riders tried it we discovered it’s far more adaptable than we thought and can be used in a number of ways to benefit your skin and your cycling. In this blog, we’ll go through a few of these ways you can get the most out of your VeloSkin Soothing Gel.

Apply it after a race or hard ride

Our Soothing Gel is the perfect antidote to those long hard sweaty rides or races, and can even help to speed up your recovery thanks to the various vitamins and minerals in the formulation. This includes aloe vera, which helps to reduce inflammation, and menthol which helps to increase blood flow to the skin - and, if you’ve used Soothing Gel before, you’ll know it’s the menthol that helps to give it that minty tingle!

As part of a sports massage

If you have sports massages or use a massage gun, applying Soothing Gel as a lubricant is a great way to help you skin absorb all the goodness of the gel. Raspberry seed oil helps to deliver antioxidants to protect and repair, while shea butter gives tired skin a boost and helps to moisturise.

Use it on sore areas

This was the original intended use, in conjunction with our Chamois Cream. A perfect post-ride treat for your chamois area, it helps to cool and soothe any soreness you’ve developed over your ride. We do strongly recommend trying this on a small area first and only using it externally and not on broken or damaged skin due to the menthol. Everyone reacts differently to products downstairs and we don’t recommend upsetting any delicate skin!

After sun

Finally, it was brought to our attention that a number of athletes were using our Soothing Gel as after sun! Thanks to the aloe vera it helps to soothe any burns while your skin is red and sore, and the cucumber oil helps to cool the skin. As with all other uses, we’d recommend trying it on a small patch first as everyone reacts differently to the active ingredients such as menthol!
